Something you may not know about me and people are

Something you may not know about me and people are often surprised to find out: I have terrible handwriting. Ever since learning cursive in 3rd grade, I’ve only written in cursive and it just seems to get more illegible as time goes on. BUT I do still believe in snail mail, especially sending thank you cards. I’ve been trying to teach my children the importance of thank you notes after birthdays and holidays and Will seems to be on board now that he’s writing and spelling independently. I still write Maddie’s for her, but always try to ask what she wants me to thank the recipient for and what she wants to say.

I always have thank you cards on hand for unexpected gifts and notes of appreciation and these pretty, springy ones are from @allie_and_elle. @ansleypridgen, the artist, is so talented. The other day, @elementstyle mentioned how when she gives herself a night off, she stresses so much about how to best utilize it and then feels like she didn’t take advantage of it enough. That’s me. After the kids go to bed, I have SO many things I want to do and some that I need to do, too. I always tell myself that I’m going to paint or needlepoint and watch a show, and then I can’t decide and end up not doing any of it and regretting my lack of decision making. But when I actually do what I tell myself I’m going to do, I’m always happy about it. I’m currently working on this @middlesisterandco canvas and it’s so perfect because it’s a saying my mom, sister, and I use all the time. And it drives my husband crazy 😂 “you can’t even what???” I just can’t even. Period. Lol. What are your go-to “me time” activities? My mom— she is the absolute best of the best. She has carried me through the highest of highs and lowest of lows and has supported me endlessly in all aspects of my life. I’m not sure how I got so lucky. I strive to be like her for my kids every day. Nowadays, more often than not, we show up wearing a version of the same thing. And I know women often say “I’m turning into my mother,” begrudgingly, but if that’s the case for me, then I’m thrilled! Love you, @wags247 ❤️

I am always so inspired by @alexiswalterart. I’m getting ready to paint a piece for above our vintage sideboard turned bar, and this piece that I snagged from Alexis’s most recent release is giving me major inspiration. I’m going to go with a mostly neutral color palette, like the other painting I did for our living room, but with a hint of sea foam. Rug and slippers are linked here. (My feet are always cold! Did you know that makeup expires? After barely using any this past year, I thought it was high time for a refresh. Especially in the lipgloss department!
